An Unexpected Fight: A Pediatric Cancer podcast

Our podcast delves into the challenging journey of pediatric cancer, exploring topics such as diagnosis, treatment, fundraising, and addressing common questions. Each episode sheds light on hospital experiences, mental health struggles, and financial hardships. We invite families of pediatric cancer warriors, pediatric oncologists, researchers, representatives from non-profits, and those who have lost children to join us and share their stories. Whether the battle has been won, is ongoing, or ended in loss, we aim to amplify the voices of those affected by pediatric cancer and honor the memories of children who fought bravely.

My name is Kelly and I began my career as a Registered nurse in 2013. The time I’ve spent working in critical care settings has fostered my passion to help others and advocate for the best possible care for my patients.

Like many of you who are reading this, I too am a caregiver to a child who was diagnosed with cancer. After a week of vomiting, followed by a sudden loss of consciousness, my daughter Riley was diagnosed with cancer at 10 months old. I am very grateful to share that Riley has been classified as No Evidence of Disease (NED) after several surgeries and multiple rounds of treatment. Having lived this experience, I understand the heartache, despair, and frustration that comes with the diagnosis of childhood cancer.
